Professor Dr Georg ArltProfessor Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt
Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt is the founder and director of the COTRI China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, based in Heide/Holstein and Shanghai. He has been engaged in European-Chinese business and tourism relations for 35 years and visited the People’s Republic of China more than 100 times, starting in 1978. He works as professor and visiting professor at a number of universities in Europe and China and has been conducting trainings and consulting work for national ministries and tourism organizations in many different countries. Prof Arlt was consultant for Travel and Transport in China, as well as former owner of an outbound and inbound tour operator with offices in Germany and China. He is a Professor for Tourism Economics at West Coast University of Applied Sciences in Germany, and Visiting Professor at several Chinese and European universities, as well as Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (London). Because of his experience and numerous publications on China outbound tourism he has been named the “preeminent global researcher on China Outbound Tourism”.

Professor Geoffrey Lipman
Prof. Geoffrey Lipman is the former Assistant Secretary-General of UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and it’s Spokesperson. He was the first President of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) between 1990 to 1999 and Executive Director of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where he worked from 1966 to 1985.  Mr. Lipman has been Tourism Envoy for the UNDP Administrator, Tourism Advisor to the Commonwealth Business Council and World Economic Forum and a Board Member of Armstrong Hospitality Group.  Mr. Lipman is Adjunct Professor at Victoria University’s International Sustainable Tourism Development Centre (Australia) and Griffith University (Australia) as well as Senior Research Fellow at George Washington University (US).  In recent years he has acted as Tourism Advisor to Microsoft and helped craft the UNWTO PPP with that Organization; initiated the WTO’s ST-EP programme; moderated the Davos Conference on Climate Change and Tourism and the subsequent Ministerial Summit; and served as 2007 Chair of the UN Communications Group.
