The Visa and Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Asia Pacific Travel Intentions Survey 2010 has found mainland Chinese travelers plan to travel most out of all Greater China travelers.
The Survey, which was conducted in May 2010 and interviewed 1,571 people in the Greater China region, found that on average, mainland Chinese travelers are planning for 7.4 business and leisure trips in the next two years, compared with the 5.6 and 4.5 trips anticipated by Hong Kong and Taiwanese travelers.

To cash in on China’s decision to make the yuan’s exchange rate more flexible, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) plans a road show in the country to attract one million tourists into Thailand as targeted this year.
Speaking after a meeting of the tourism agency’s board of directors, Governor Surapon Sawetserani said TAT officials will visit China to negotiate with tour operators seeking their support in encouraging Chinese people to visit Thailand following the yuan’s appreciation.

To attract more Chinese tourists to visit Thailand, the country plans to extend the previous three-month-long visa free policy for foreign tourists to the end of the year: a saving of CNY230 for each visa application.
Until December 31, 2009, each tourist will also get travel insurance for USD10,000. If tourists get hurt during political demonstrations or riots their medical and hospitalization costs can be offset by the USD10,000 insurance.
